The available six-speed SelectShift Automatic® transmission features racing-style, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters to put you in control of manual gear shifts.
Enthusiastic performer
The 2011 Taurus offers a sport-oriented suspension, a spirited, 263-hp 3.5L Duratec® V6 engine and a smooth six-speed automatic transmission. In uncertain driving conditions, the standard AdvanceTrac® ESC (electronic stability control)* springs into action, while available All-Wheel Drive handles more challenging roads.
Adaptive cruise control

The available class-exclusive adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support automatically adjust cruising speed to maintain a preset "headway" distance to the vehicle in front of you (28, 39, or 62 metres at 100 kph).

This system also senses if a vehicle ahead suddenly stops or slows, then flashes a warning light and sounds an alarm. It can automatically apply the brakes or assist you by applying full braking force. Taurus starts with six standard airbags, then goes above and beyond when it comes to your peace of mind.

Keyless freedom
The standard SecuriCode™ invisible keypad sits unseen on the driver's door pillar, until you touch it. Instantly, it glows red. Enter your five-digit code, and you're in.
